Tulane

The Officially Unofficial Mississippi State Athletics Blog had absolutely no random thoughts (at least none we could share) after the Auburn game.

Although we're all tired of being listed here: ESPN's Bottom Ten.

Tulane is not a good football team. They gave up five games worth of yardage to Houston. I'm drawing a proverbial line in the sand this week - if we don't beat Tulane, I'm done with Croom.

Dixon should have a nice game. Croom should run him until he begs to come out - and then he should run him some more. I forsee Rutland and the receiving corps having a nice outing as well. Rutland should have time to throw and the receivers should have time to get open. I haven't been able to say this in probably five years, but I like our offensive matchups against their secondary. Wow...how bad is their secondary anyway?

That's enough bleating for one night.

Though not an MSU grad, I have always been an MSU fan. Three boys in my family, all played college football, one of us at State. What I have to say is simple. State was and is very fortunate to have Coach Croom. It isnt difficult to see the players are in better shape, far more disciplined and giving great effort. These "fans" who constantly carp and complain probably never put on a jock strap in their entire life. So if you cannot say something positive or productive, then why don't you just keep your negative comments to yourself ?

A few notes from the game. Our quarterbacks did have time to throw. Rutland needs work. The Houston game must have just been an bad game for Tulane, they were pretty good Saturday night. Their #8 won them the game.

Hey Mack, I put on plenty of jock-straps in my life. I was on winning teams and losing teams --- so I know a little about both.

It's obvious the guys are in better shape and it's obvious they "look" better than they did three years ago. It's also obvious that they haven't improved in the one place it really counts. The win column. I've tried not to knock the players around too much on here, but I figure the guy pulling in a cool mill a year can take a little constructive criticism (and plain venting) from time to time.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, Chad.

I agree that Rutland definitely needs more time. And that's fine, he's a redshirt freshmen, time is one thing he has plenty of. He appears to have the tools. I hope he can pick up the offense and confidence to go with his talent.
